A measurement of customer satisfaction that is determined by asking customers “how likely are you to refer us to a friend?” Typically, the question is asked on a scale of 1 to 10 and NPS is calculated by subtracting the percentage of 1-6's from the percentage of 9-10's.

Example: Apple's NPS is over 80, making it one of the highest in the industry.
